Genioplasty, also
known as chin implant insertion, is a surgical
procedure to enhance the chin. A chin implant can
help balance the face. Often this procedure is done
in conjunction with nose reshaping or a face lift.
Genioplasty surgery generally takes 20 - 30 minutes
and usually recovery is relatively quick.
With Every surgery
there are possible risks and complications:
Dr. Yaker performs many genioplasties successfully
each year. However; there are risks associated with
this surgery. Possible complications following
surgery include infection, bleeding, poor healing,
and reaction to anesthesia. Smoking can increase the
risk of complications during the healing process.
About the surgery:
Often genioplasty surgery is performed in our on
site AAAASF certified ambulatory surgery center
under I.V. sedation. (If the surgery is done at the
same time as nose surgery or a face lift, it is
likely that general anesthesia will be used). Dr.
Yaker works through a small incision under the chin
to place the implant. Following surgery, surgical
tape is applied for support.
